Inclusivity and Respect

I am committed to fostering inclusive, affirming spaces that honor dignity, cultural identity, and personal values. Every family deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported.

Why I became a Doula

My path to this work began with my own children’s births.

My first birth experience with my oldest son was not at all what I hoped for. So when I became pregnant again, I started looking for ways to make this next birth better. Eventually I learned about doula’s and the difference they could make for everyone involved. So I found a doula of my own.

Having a doula attend my second and third births helped both me and my husband so much. She helped him know ways he could best support me, they worked together as a team. With their support, I was able to have an unmedicated birth to bring our ten pound daughter into the world. And even though I had that unmedicated experience, when it came to my third baby, during her birth, I eventually decided to have an epidural.

Having my doula by my side, listening and truly supporting me, gave the reassuring confidence to know that I had made the decision that was right for me. I know from these experiences that every birth is unique. And you need to be supported in different ways. And that is how I will be there for you. Focusing on each moment listening to you, supporting you, giving you what YOU need.

Having compassionate, knowledgeable support changed my own pregnancies, labors, my relationship with my husband and how I stepped into motherhood.

I want this same experience for every mother in every birth. For you to birth with bliss…

Life Beyond Birth Work

First and foremost, I am a mom of three children, now ranging from 17 to 25. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my husband and our kids.  My grown children live far away, so when we do get precious time together, we love to eat, hang out, play games and take walks together. When we can, we love to camp, go for slow bike rides, and meander along on our kayaks and paddle boards around the bay.

I try to spend a little time outside every day with our sweet dog “Daisy”  Whether it be walking at the national seashore, along the water, in the woods, or just around the neighborhood, I love breathing in the morning air and listening to all the sounds as life wakes up around me.

I love to laugh. I love to connect.  I love to listen.

Each person I meet is truly a gift and I believe we are forever changed by even the smallest interactions.

I have a Master’s in Counseling so I am trained in tuning in and focusing on what you need and where you are at with things.

But beyond my training. I simply believe in mothers.  My calming faith in you and your ability to have your baby will radiate to everyone in the room.

These experiences shape how I show up as a doula — grounded, patient, joy filled and deeply aware of how fleeting and precious these early seasons are.
